Relation between Structure, Mechanical and Piezoelectric Properties in Cellular Ceramic Auxetic and Honeycomb Structures

Optimizing renewable energy harvesting is of major importance in the following decades. In order to increase performance and efficiency, an ideal balance mechanical piezoelectric properties must be targeted. For this purpose, approach ceramic auxetic honeycomb structures made (Ba,Ca)(Zr,Ti)O3 (BCZT) which produced via injection molding considered. The main design parameter structural angle ? varied between ?35° 35°. Its effect on compressive strength, Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio are determined uniaxial compression tests digital image correlation (DIC). Maximum strength 95 MPa at 0° (porosity 59%) found, superior conventional porous ceramics same porosity. constants d33 (max. 296 pC N?1) g33 0.068 Vm measured Berlincourt method also exceed expectations, regardless structure. theoretical models Gibson Ashby (mechanical) Okazaki (piezoelectrical), as well finite element simulations, strengthen explain experimental results.
